Authentication fails 'MaxOffsetExpired'

Issue

Attempting to login to ClimateOS causes an error message saying: "oidc service responded with: 'MaxOffsetExpired'"

Background

We have a security mechanism in place that is designed to prevent a particular kind of authentication attack.

Solution

If you encounter this issue, there are two possible solutions. The first solution is to simply reload the sign-in page and try logging in again.

If this doesn't work, it is very likely that your system's clock is not correct and thus doesn't match the system time of our authentication servers. This leads to an "artificial" delay in the authentication process which causes the login to be rejected. In this case, please enter the "Date & time" settings inside your system's settings and synchronise the clock as indicated below (Microsoft Windows):

In some instances, due to users working from home with computers provided by their employers during the Covid-19 pandemic, their systems' clock slowly but steadily developed a delay from the original time shown in the settings. Therefore, if the problem persists after reloading the page and checking the system's clock, please make sure to contact your IT department or connect your system to your workplace to synchronise your system's time. This should resolve the issue.

If the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact our support team through support@climateview.global.
