Increasing efficiency
Increasing efficiency through optimising technology is one of the four types of shifts that is described by Transition elements. This type of shift describes a technological improvement of an already existing operation that enables this operation to increase its energy efficiency to carry out the activity. For example retrofitting old buildings decreases the amount of energy needed (increased energy efficiency) to heat one m² of space (activity).
