The Emissions Trajectory, is the last outcome of the Pathfinding phase of the Living Climate Action Plan. It is simply the estimated annual sum of emissions in the city, and the rate at which they are reducing, each year, until the goal year. Traditional trajectories extrapolate a forward trend based upon recent data and your current inventory. They can also be generated in conjunction with a carbon (emissions) budget, which places a constraint on the total cumulative emissions over a period of time.
The Emissions Trajectory helps you understand the path you are in, and relative to what is needed to comply with your target year, and any emissions budget or cumulative emissions approach you have used. This is especially important for science-based targets
Emissions trajectories are usually revisited to understand whether you are on track for your goals, across all of your Transition Elements.
